Revelation 6:2
And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.
Brothers and sisters in Christ. I will talk to you about this white horse in Revelation 6:2, mainly about the color. Its color is white. White. White is the color. And we, within certain trades, would say, white is white, UNO (unless noted otherwise). But it is not noted otherwise in Revelation 6. There is no Behold, the white horse is an antichrist or any such thing. Why is it then that the white horse in Revelation 6 is portrayed by many as the Antichrist? They were taught that, even though the text about the white horse does not reveal it nor suggest it. Do not see more in the text than what is there. Do not add to it! (Revelation 22:18)
What white color symbolizes to us? Isn't it a cleanness, purity, innocence? Isn't a dove white? Isn't a classic wedding dress white? Isn't the raiment we shall wear before the Lord, at Christ's appearing, white? Again, why is it then that so many among you believe that the white horse in Revelation 6 is the Antichrist? It is others who persuaded you. And they were taught by others before them. And there are many. Is it so, because many think so? They are comparing their thinking among themselves. Is that wise? Is it wise to have an imagination of what text in the Bible may mean instead of just reading it as is? White horse.
The Greek word used in the text of Revelation 6:2 for the word "white" is λευκός (leukos). It means (refer to Strong's G 3022), secondarily: dead white as of the whitening color of ripening grain, but primarily: light, bright, brilliant, brilliant from whiteness, dazzling white, of the garments of angels, of those exalted to the splendor of the heavenly state. The root word is luke("light"). Per Strong's G 3022, the text where this Greek word leukos("white") is used:
Mat 5:36, Mat 17:2, Mat 28:3, Mar 9:3, Mar 16:5, Luk 9:29, Jhn 4:35, Jhn 20:12, Act 1:10, Rev 1:14, Rev 2:17, Rev 3:4, Rev 3:5, Rev 3:18, Rev 4:4, Rev 6:2, Rev 6:11, Rev 7:9, Rev 7:13, Rev 14:14, Rev 19:11, Rev 19:14, Rev 20:11.
Any of these are related to or suggesting the Wicked One, wickedness, an evil, a bad thing? Did you read them all? What then, is it still that white horse in Revelation 6 is the Antichrist?
You do not have to know Greek, but here again is the wisdom: just read "white" as white, "black" as black, "light" as light, "dark" as dark, unless noted (explained or such) otherwise. This is evident in 2 Corinthians 11:14-15, where it is clearly explained who is who and what to expect. Even though Satan, a dark force, is described in this one instance as a light, we are not left in the dark and without understanding. He, evil, appears as a light, because his wicked and deceitful ministers act as ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their (wicked) works. What are the wicked works appearing as a light to some? For one, calling dark things light, good as evil and evil as good. Do you see that? But in the case of the white horse, there is no follow-up that this white horse, appearing as white, is actually dark or something. The word of God is light and does not leave his children in darkness and confusion of understanding. A confusion springs off of a man in the flesh.
The white horse is introduced as white, and it stays white. And other horses with other colors and purposes follow with the opening of the additional seals.
I believe the above should be a good witness to you of what to believe the white horse is, or better yet, what it is not --that it is not the Antichrist or such. But if you still not sure, would you believe this: that after the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lamb in full glory, declared to be worthy (Revelation 5), as no other was worthy, to open the seals and took the book (with seven seals) out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne (God the Father), the first thing released and coming out of it is the devil? Really? No, brothers and sisters! The first thing released (after opening the first seal in Revelation 6:1-2) is in line with God's glory, power, and blessings, the white horse, which went conquering the hearts of men for the Kingdom of God, by the gospel preached throughout the whole world, by the power of the Spirit, in the name of Jesus, the Lord and Christ. Awake to understanding, my brothers and sisters!
At last, we will quote from Irenaeus, the Bishop of Lyon (c. 130 - c. 202 AD), who was taught by Polycarp, the Bishop of Smyrna (place mentioned in Revelation 2:8), who was a direct disciple of John the Apostle. Not that I first learned about the white horse from Irenaeus, but that you may consider this witness too. (I was shown and brought to understanding what I teach you here about the white horse not from Irenaeus, nor any other man.) Irenaeus, in his writing Against Heresies, said: For to this end was the Lord born, the type of whose birth he set forth beforehand, of whom also John says in the Apocalypse: "He went forth conquering, that He should conquer." (Irenaeus, Against Heresies, Book IV, Chapter XXI, Section 3)
Brothers and sisters, does it matter if the white horse is the Lord's or the Antichrist's? If we are confused about these fundamentals, that is not a good thing. Are we not carnal? Are we not in the flesh? Are we not like the world? Isn't the world painting good things as dark and bad things as good for its own selfish advantages?
Christ be in you, the hope of glory.
-By Lubomir
And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
